Up until this past Saturday, this Camaro hadn’t moved from this spot in over 10 years. Now, it’s finally time to give my best friend a hand at getting it back on the road. First up was pushing it out of the garage bay, then a quick Svending...

Kinja'd!!!

The results after an improvised foam gun, then a hand washing. The paint still needs some work, but at least we won’t be scratching the car just by looking at it now. It’s an ‘88 with the 2.8 V6; not a performance powerhouse, but it has a long and sentimental history with him.

Other action items completed included changing the oil and filter ( surprisingly, the oil didn’t look too bad other than it being very black ), siphoning out 10 gallons of stale yet clear gasoline ( I think my headache from the fumes is finally subsiding ), and, oh yeah, pushing the car into the adjacent garage bay so we would have room to do the aforementioned work. Even with four people ( one steering ) it was quite a workout to get the car up the very slight incline into the bay.

Next up on the list is to try to finish going over the engine and fuel lines to get closer to turning it over... oh, and installing the new hood struts that I just ordered yesterday... that would help a lot...

I love hardtop 3rd-gen F-bodies. That’s a remarkable improvement just from the washing and detailing!

Vise grips on the hood struts work well to hold the hood up until the replacements arrive

It’s an awesome car! While T-Tops are neat, I do like the clean look of the hardtop.

I’d say it was mostly washing; there is still quite a bit of detailing that needs done, both inside and out. Still, we were amazed at how it turned out just with a quick wash. My friend forgot just how vibrant the paint color was!

Here’s another before picture, just for fun.

Good advice to hang on to for the future. Luckily, the new hood struts should be here on Thursday, a few days before we might be working on the car again.

It makes us happy, too! It was parked back in ‘08 having been his mom’s primary daily driver for the warmer months ( I believe, it looks very clean rust-wise for a PA car ) from ~’92-’02 or so. It’s been sitting for way too long!

I kind of regret setting the one I had but I had no where to keep it when I moved. I will have to find another some day. It was the same color as your friends too except mine had a 305 TBI motor

That’s always the problem, isn’t it... lack of space! I’m definitely jealous of the space my friend has, though, he’d say that he still has a lack of space...

That 305 TBI sounds like it would be cool.
